Michigan to launch Silver Alert system for missing vulnerable adults

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – Michigan will soon have a statewide alert system for missing seniors and vulnerable adults.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation Thursday directing the Michigan State Police to create and maintain a Silver Alert system.
Similar to an Amber Alert, the Silver Alert system will use the federal Wireless Emergency Alerts system to send notifications directly to cell phones when a senior or vulnerable adult is reported missing.
Senate Bill 456, sponsored by state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, establishes the statewide program to help law enforcement quickly notify the public and improve response efforts when vulnerable adults go missing.
