‘Fish-a-holic’ angler tells how he wrangled record flathead catfish in Michigan

Codie Carlson from Newport, Michigan, broke Michigan’s flathead catfish record while bowfishing at Plum Creek in Monroe County on June 29, according to Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources.The record-breaking fish weighed 64.46 pounds and is 45 inches long.Codie Carlson, 34, of Newport, fishes almost every day, but June 29 was different.
He got off of work at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, stopped at home to let his dogs out, grabbed his bow, then headed to his typical spot at Plum Creek in Monroe County.
