Kroger ordered to pay $75M to man who lost hands in chemical explosion at Michigan store

PONTIAC, MI — Kroger Co. of Michigan will award a 37-year-old HVAC tech over $75 million after he sustained severe chemical burns that led him to losing most of both hands.
On Tuesday, June 17, a jury in Oakland County Circuit Court rendered a verdict against the company, ordering it to pay the sum to Brian Mierendorf, and his wife Heather Mierendorf.
