Michigan football getting a ‘great all-around athlete’ in Arkansas transfer

Michigan’s football program lost both of its starting safeties from 2024 in Makari Paige and Quinten Johnson but might have found a suitable replacement from the Southeastern Conference.

The Wolverines landed brothers TJ and Tevis Metcalf from Arkansas via the NCAA transfer portal this offseason, with TJ being the more experienced of the two. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety started for the 7-6 Razorbacks as a sophomore last season and totaled 57 tackles, seven pass breakups and three interceptions, including two against Auburn in Week 4.
