STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — Vice President JD Vance is coming back to Michigan Monday at a MAGA super PAC event with the state’s key Republican nominees, a few months ahead of the critical November midterm elections.
The vice president will be joined by the Republican gubernatorial candidate Congressman John James, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers, Michigan House Speaker Rep. Matt Hall (R – MI – 42) and Republican Candidate for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District Mike Bouchard Jr., according to event organizers.
Last time Vance visited Michigan in March he spoke at a manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills, addressing gas prices, an attack on Temple Israel West Bloomfield that happened the week before, and the Gordie Howe Bridge, the opening of which was in limbo at the time due to President Donald Trump threatening blocks to it amid souring US-Canadian relations.
Neither MAGA Inc., the event host, or Vance made indications on what the vice president and his guests will speak about Monday evening.
Also on Monday Vance will privately address the Republican Jewish Coalition after his recent criticism of Israeli officials.
Other speakers planned to be at the event include U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain (R – MI – 09), U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission Andrew Ferguson.
In response to his visit, the Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel criticized James, Rogers and Bouchard Jr. for choosing to “stand by Trump and Vance without saying a word” amid tariff impacts throughout the state.
“These Republicans have made their choice: they’re rubber-stamping Trump’s toxic agenda, including his reckless war in Iran, his healthcare cuts, and his latest trade war with Canada, no matter the cost to Michigan families,” Hertel said.
