Michigan embezzlement probe: Whitmer administration apologized for $20M grant diversion

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s chief of staff allegedly apologized because a $20 million legislative grant, now under investigation for embezzlement, was not allocated to the intended organization.

American-Arab Chamber of Commerce Chair Ahmad Chebbani told investigators that Whitmer Chief of Staff JoAnne Huls drove to the organization’s office in Dearborn around May 2023 to apologize that the funds were directed to businesswoman Fay Beydoun instead of the chamber.
