Vice President JD Vance speaks in Michigan Wednesday

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WILX) – Vice President JD Vance came to Michigan Wednesday, where he spoke at a manufacturing plant in Auburn Hills.
He talked about the war in Iran and what it could mean for gas prices and household budgets.
The vice president did not give a timeline for when the U.S. operation in Iran will end. He said President Trump is not looking for what he called a “long term quagmire.” Vance went on to say the president has been clear on the mission — “no nuclear weapons for the Iranians.”
Vance said the soaring gas prices seen as a result will be a “temporary blip.”

“Because of what’s going on in the Middle East, it’s not going to last forever,” Vance said. “We’re going to take care of business. We’re going to come back home. And when that happens, you’re going to see energy prices come back down to reality. But in the meantime, we got a problem. We know that we have a problem. We’re doing everything that we can to address it.”
The chair of the Michigan Democratic Party says the administration is only hurting manufacturing and eliminating benefits that are a safety net. He says the war with Iran is unnecessarily driving up costs at home.
