Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer had a meeting with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, March 10, with a spokesman for her office providing a statement saying the president agreed to provide emergency assistance for last year’s ice storms, which had been previously denied.
The two also discussed several state priorities and the tornadoes the previous week that struck the southwest corner of the state killing four people. It typically takes some weeks, if not months, for federal agencies to determine whether and how much aid is warranted in helping states and communities recover from a storm.
