Ortasaidshe“wouldn’tbeheretoday”ifitweren’tforthequickworkofhercoaches,whostartedemergencyCPRonthefieldtokeepherheartpumping.Anotherpersonenteredanearbybuildingtograbanautomatedexternaldefibrillator—anAED.Theportabledevicedeliversanelectricshocktorestorenormalheartrhythmandkepttheyoungteenstablebeforeshewastransferredtoahospital.
“Iwasattherightplaceattherighttime,”Ortasaid.“Andeverybodythatwasaroundmeandhadtheirhandsonmethatday,theywerealsointherightplaceattherighttime.”
