ShawnWilmothandWillieReedwerefoundguiltyMondaybyaMacombCountyjuryofforgingorallowingtheforgeryofsignaturesonnominatingpetitionsanddefraudingtheRepublicangubernatorialcampaignsofPerryJohnson,JamesCraig,MichaelBrownandMichaelMarkey,aswellasjudicialcandidatesTriciaDare,JohnCahalanandJohnMichaelMalone.DonnaBrandenburgwasalsodefrauded,buthernameappearedonthegeneralelectionballot.Onecandidatewasdefraudedbutlaterwithdrewfromrunning. ReedwasalsoconvictedofstealingfromRyanKelley’sgubernatorialcampaign,butWilmothwasacquitted. Wilmoth’swife,JamieWilmoth,wasaccusedofthesameacts,butthejuryfoundhernotguiltyonallcharges.
