Michigan governor signs legislation banning cellphone use during class

LANSING, Mich. (WNDU) – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed legislation banning students from using cellphones in class.
According to our sister station WILX, the law aims to reduce distractions in schools, increase class participation and help students succeed.
Students will not be allowed to use their phones during class but will be able to use them between class periods or in an emergency.
The law will take effect next school year.
