Michigan’s beautiful fall secret: Why colors are lasting longer in our beach towns

If you’re like us, you fall in love with Michigan a little more every autumn when our beautiful colors put on their big display. But did you know there are places around the state where these gorgeous hues actually last longer?

We’re seeing that again this year. The cascade of fall colors started on time in the Upper Peninsula in September, but as we march on toward the end of October, trees in certain areas are still holding their fall colors. A few areas still have a good mix of green leaves that have not turned yet, meaning we should continue to see colorful areas right into November.
