Detroit officer gets 45-day unpaid suspension for shooting driver at illegal drag race

ThoughOfficerChristopherDaviswasnotcriminallychargedinconnectionwiththenonfatalshooting,hedidreceivea45-dayunpaidsuspension,apolicespokespersonsaid.TheDetroitPoliceOfficersAssociationunionhasappealedthatsuspensionandtheissuewillbedecidedbyanarbitrator,thespokespersonsaid.TheWayneCountyProsecutor’sOfficestandsbyitsdecisionnottochargetheofficer,spokespersonMariaMillersaid.TheDetroitPoliceDepartmenthandeda45-dayunpaidsuspensionforunnecessaryuseofforcetoanofficerwhoshotandseriouslyinjuredamanwhowassittinginhiscaratanillegaldragracein2023,officialsconfirmed.
