Army Staff Sergeant Troy Knutson-Collins, 28, died during an accident in Lithuania. Three other soldiers were also killed in the accident.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer praised Knutson-Collins, calling him a fierce friend and proud son who dedicated his life to serving the country.
The Battle Creek native joined the Army in 2018 and served as an artillery mechanic.
Flags will return to full staff on May 3.
