— The official “Week of the Young Child” national celebration is designated for April 5-12 this year, but in Detroit Lakes, the annual observance has become so popular that they can’t cram all of the planned activities into a single week.
“We could call it ‘Month of the Young Child,'” says Fran Rethwisch, early childhood family education and school readiness coordinator for Detroit Lakes Public Schools. “We just have so many activities and so much fun planned, we spread it out so families can do things all month long.
