Advocates: More money needed for child care in Whitmer’s budget before ‘crisis gets worse’

Nearly300parents,childcareworkersandotheradvocatesralliedinLansingatanannualEarlyChildhoodCapitolDayonWednesday.ThoughprovidersandadvocatessaidtheyweregratefulfortheearlychildhoodinvestmentsinWhitmer’sbudget,manywereinagreementthatitwasnotenough.OperatingchildcarecentersisexpensiveandMichiganisfallingbehindotherstatesbynotrecognizingtheinvestmentneededtosupportthecrucialbusinesses,earlychildhoodcommunitymemberssay.Manychildcareadvocatesandprovidersarefedupwithwhattheysayisthestate’slackofinvestmentinMichigan’searlychildhoodinfrastructureandtraveledtothecapitollastweektomeetwithlegislatorstodemandmorehelp.
