Blizzard Warnings issued for part of Michigan: ‘Travel could be very difficult to impossible’
—
Winds up to 50 mph and heavy, blowing snow coming off Lake Superior have sparked Blizzard Warnings today for a half-dozen counties near the big lake. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories cover much of the rest of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula today.
“Impactful winter weather and dangerous travel conditions are expected today,” the National Weather Service in Marquette said. “Heavy snow will focus into the west and north-central. Strong winds up to 50 mph along Lake Superior shores and in the Keweenaw will result in blizzard conditions, possible tree damage, and potential for power outages. Rain and mixed precipitation will in the south east before transitioning to snow this afternoon.”
