Lansing—Lt.Gov.GarlinGilchristIIannouncedMondayhe’sdroppinghiscampaignforgovernorinordertolaunchabidtobeMichigan’snextsecretaryofstate. Theswitchhasbeenintheworksforweeksandwillhaveawaveofpoliticalrepercussions.ItmeanscurrentSecretaryofStateJocelynBensonhasaclearerpathtotheDemocraticnominationforgovernor.HerloneremainingopponentintheAugustprimaryisGeneseeCountySheriffChrisSwanson.
