Michigan free birth control program ends after one-year

LANSING, Mich. (FOX 2) – The year-long statewide program to provide free birth control in Michigan has concluded.

TheMichiganDepartmentofHealthandHumanServices(MDHHS)announcedonThursdaythatinpartnershipwithGovernorGretchenWhitmer,theyhaveconcludeditsyear-longTakeControlofYourBirthControlcampaign.
Theprojectwasmeanttobringfreecontraceptionandreproductivehealthresourcestoall83countiesthroughmorethan440partnersites.
ThecampaignwaslaunchedinNovember2024andprovidedMichiganresidentsaccesstoessentialitemsincludingemergencycontraception,oralcontraceptivepills,condomsandpregnancytestswithoutcostorinsurancerequirements.
“Everyone,nomatterhowmuchmoneytheymake,deservestomaketheirowndecisionsabouttheirownreproductivehealthandfuture,”said GovernorWhitmer.“Thiscampaignisapowerfulexampleofwhathappenswhenweprioritizepeople’shealthandworktogetherwithourcommunities.”
