Michigan’seconomyhasbeenslowingoverthepastyear,butitsjobspicturemaybefargloomierthanthemuch-watchedmonthlyreportshaveindicated.
NewlyrevisednumbersshowthatMichiganactuallylost13,800jobsinthe12monthsendinginMarch,insteadofthe25,900jobsreportedlycreatedintheperiod.
“Itwasanouch,”saidGabeEhrlich,directoroftheUniversityofMichigan’sResearchSeminarinQuantitativeEconomics.
ThepreliminarybenchmarkrevisionbytheBureauofLaborStatisticsshowstherewere911,000fewerU.S.jobscreatedinthe12monthsendinginMarchthanreportedinthecloselywatchedmonthlyfigures.Itwasthelargestpreliminaryrevisionbythebureauinrecordsgoingba
