Inthewakeofashootingthatkilledright-wingfirebrandCharlieKirkonWednesdayataUtahcollegecampus,politicalfiguresinMichiganofferedcondolenceswhilereflectingonthedangersassociatedwithlifeinthepubliceye.
RobertLulgjuraj,aRepublicancandidateseekingMichigan’s10thCongressionalDistrictseatintheU.S.House,saidhelookedatKirkasan“inspiration,”giventhatthetwowerelessthanayearapartinage(Lulgjurajis32yearsold;Kirkwas31)andbothareoutspokenintheirChristianbeliefandwillingnesstoengageindiscoursewithindividualswithopposingpoliticalviews.
HecalledWednesday“anevildayinAmericanhistory”butsaidthekillingwouldn’taffecthisapproachonthecampaigntrail.
