Voting in Detroit: What older residents want from city government

Detroiters over the age of 60 make up about 21% of the city’s population — and they pack the polls on Election Day. 

In the 2021 primary, voters in this age bracket cast 10 times more ballots than voters under 30. “We know seniors carry elections,” City Clerk Janice Winfrey told WDIV earlier this month.
